Disneyland replaces grass with artificial turf on Haunted Mansion lawn and Mickey Mouse flower planter at train station

Thanks to OC Register, we have an answer to what’s happening on the lawn of The Haunted Mansion and the famous Mickey Mouse floral planter at the entrance to Disneyland.

New artificial grass around the Mickey Floral Planter at the entrance to Disneyland Park and the Haunted Mansion front lawn will be unveiled Friday, September 2 to kick off Halloween Time at the Anaheim theme park.

Disney has been slowly rolling out artificial turf throughout the park over the past few weeks and months as part of a water conservation effort to combat the drought.

The high-end artificial turf used at Disneyland is harder to spot than the lower-priced versions found in residential neighborhoods that look like synthetic green carpeting with visible seams. Disneyland uses eight different types of artificial turf with grey, brown and off-white blades weaved intermittently.

Recently, the lawn around Storybook Land Floral received the treatment over three days in July.
