The School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) is inviting applications for positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The school offers several trendy programs such as Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Science and AI (AI & Data Analytics, AI & IoT), Bachelor of Applied Science in Data & Cyber ​​Security (Ethical Hacking, Cyber ​​Defense , Industrial Control Systems Security, Cyber ​​Security Policy and Governance), Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems (Software Development, Mobile and Web Development, and Database Design and Administration) and Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology information (computer systems, network systems and cloud computing and big data) .

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary role of faculty members in the School of Computing and Computing is to promote high-quality teaching, applied research, and innovative services. In addition, he/she should collaborate with the Head of Department, School Dean, and colleagues to achieve the mission of the department and school, mentor junior colleagues and teaching assistants, and support the department and the school with several administrative and academic services.

Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of courses in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Particular areas of interest include machine learning, deep learning, visualization and intelligent interaction, industrial and business analytics, IoT software and systems, and IoT intelligence and automation, but applicants with strong expertise in other areas of data science and artificial intelligence will also be considered. . Other duties include evaluating student progress and managing learning environment resources. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and monitor projects in the specified program area. Faculty members will maintain course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.

Qualifications required:

For the assistant professor

A PhD in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field. Three years of teaching experience in a higher education environment, as well as three years of work experience as a practitioner/professional in a relevant discipline is preferred. Candidates must also be recognized in the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer, or professional practice that should be international in scope; A minimum of 2 journal articles indexed in Scopus or similar is required.
  • Contribution to the advancement of learning through the leadership of teaching and curriculum development;
  • Professional recognition and reputation with peers;
  • Direction of an academic subject or academic management.

For the associate professor

A PhD in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field. At least 5 years of experience in higher education is required. Additionally, 5 years of industrial experience as a practitioner/professional in a relevant discipline is preferred. Candidates must also be recognized in the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer, or professional practice that should be international in scope; A minimum of 5 journal articles indexed in Scopus or similar is required.
  • Contribution to the advancement of learning through the leadership of teaching and curriculum development;
  • Professional recognition and reputation with peers;
  • Direction of an academic subject or academic management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Certifications in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Record of successful participation/leadership in applied research projects
  • Leadership and innovation experience in technology-enabled projects
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in education (e.g., post-secondary education, adult education or vocational education)

Other skills required:

  • Extensive knowledge and work experience in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, statistical learning and modeling, and IoT applications. Candidates with strong expertise in other areas of data science and artificial intelligence will also be considered.
  • Commitment to applied and experiential learning as a pedagogy and a key part of the College’s mandate.
  • Ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize learning of content in context and develop knowledge, skills and attitudes identified in program outcomes .
