A thought-provoking event on artificial intelligence and its scope to enlighten students’ minds

The second session of PEAK (Program for advanced engineering knowledge)an industry-university series for students in the field of engineering and technology, focusing on artificial intelligence and its scope to enlighten the minds of students, was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South India, Chennai, Saturday May 14, 2022.

Attendance of thousands of students from top colleges across the country like Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Chennai. Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. Francis Xavier Engineering College Tirunelveli. Rajalakshmi College of Engineering, Chennai. Kovilpatti National College of Engineers. Kalasalingam University, Krishnan Koil, CPAT TVS, Chennai made this virtual event a great success.

Participants actively posed many challenging questions on AI and Data Science to the two eminent speakers, Mr. Ramana Prasad, President, AI World School, Board Member – Center for Innovation (CFI) IIT Madras, International Catrobat Foundation, Gra University of Technology, Austria and Mr. Gopi Koteeswaran, Chairman of SICCI EIS Committee and Founder of Dzruptiv AI.

There were discussions about how to become an expert in AI, career opportunities in AI, the limits of AI, choosing which organizations to work for, and how students can develop their skills. The session was moderated by Mr. George Koshi, Chair of the SICCI Employability Task Force and Director – Learning and Development, Sify Technologies Limited.

Mr. Ramana Prasad, interacted with the students on the need for continuous learning, upgrading, developing creative and innovative skills and learning computer skills. He also mentioned that his organization is working to provide AI training to students in schools, students should have the zeal to learn and focus on the fundamentals.

To a question about the sector that will be most affected by AI, Mr. Ramana Prasad mentioned that AI has already made its way into various industries like automotive, healthcare, agriculture, banking for n Name a few and it’s up to students’ imaginations to come up with an AI solution for other industries.

Mr. Gopi explained how students should relate theoretical concepts to real life. He also asked students to be super curious, focus on sharpening their minds, and participate in various global events and contests.

Mr. Ramana Prasad thanked the South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) for organizing such an interactive virtual event. He also mentioned that such sessions should be held frequently to provide valuable insights to students in engineering and technology fields.
